Salford City A.S.C was based at Seedley Swimming Baths on Derby Road in Salford, 6 nights a week, The club was founded in 1949 from the mergence of Salford Ladies Swimming Club and Salford Police Swimming and Water Polo Club.
We have many Regional, County and National titles to our name in Swimming and Water Polo and have had several players represent Great Britain at the Olympics.
The club in it's present form moved to Broughton in the 1970's.
Sadly we now only have one club night.
From 6pm until 6.45pm the Seals, Dolphin and Marlin improver groups train and from 6.45pm until 7.30pm the Sharks and Stingrays advanced groups train, along with the Senior Water Polo players.
At 7.30pm the pool is halved, in the shallow end is the training for Mini-Polo and in the deep end the Water-Polo.
From 8pm until 9pm the Senior Water-Polo players take over the whole pool for their training.
If the Polo team have a home match, the match will start at 8pm.
We are at present trying to promote the club through taster sessions which consist of half hour swimming and half hour Mini-Polo, once a month through the local schools. We are also running badge nights once every two months and we are concentrating on life saving and are currently working with the Irwell Valley Trust to train up local people living within the River Irwell flood plains to be local life saving champions.
